Doctrinal Position & Personal Testimony and Faith
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
•The Holy Bible, consisting of 66 books from Genesis to Revelation, is the inspired words of God and the perfect standard for faith and practice.
•There is only one true and living God, who is the creator and ruler of the universe. God is united in three distinctive, inseparable and yet equally divine persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
•I believe that there is a heaven and hell and that the saints will be with God and that unbelievers will be condemned to hell.
•Jesus Christ is the Son of God who became flesh. He voluntarily died on the cross as the remission and atonement of sins which was accomplished through his death, resurrection and ascension. And having risen from the dead, He is now enthroned in Heaven and He will return and we will one day stand in the presence and judgment of God.
•The salvation of sinners is wholly of God’s grace. We receive this grace through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone. The blessings of salvation are made free and available to all, (i.e. unlimited atonement, unlimited in scope).
•We are responsible for deciding our eternal future by either accepting or rejecting the gift of salvation from God through Jesus Christ. And that once we have accepted the salvation of God through Jesus Christ, that salvation can’t be lost and that true salvation can’t live in sin.
•I believe that God is a just God and through His justice He will punish sin. That God will allow tribulation to come against the saints but will not place on them more than they can bear.
•Baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit to demonstrate our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior Jesus Christ.
PERSONAL TESTIMONY & FAITH
Although no one in my family had accepted Jesus Christ, I was always surrounded with the understanding of God through my mother. She had not personally accepted him as her Lord and Savior, but her understanding of God came from the strong spiritual guidance of her father, Arthur Trice. His love and devotion to the word of God was channeled into my spirit and although I accepted Christ at an early age, the foundation of my spiritual growth was only at the beginning stage of knowledge.
When my family moved to the Southside of Chicago I was reintroduced to Christ as a teenager by Charlotte Smith. Her constant desire to bring me to Christ led me to visit Mt. Joy Baptist Church but it was actually a beautiful young lady that caused me to join the church and sing in the choir. I was baptized at Mt. Joy but my walk had still not received the spiritual wisdom and knowledge of the righteous; Psalm 37:29-31.
My testimony derived after I lost my job and my first wife decided to divorce me after her mother offered to help her and my son if she would leave me. When I lost the ability to see my son through the divorce, my spirit was grieved but God started speaking words of power, wisdom and knowledge within me and I started preaching the gospel to myself. I couldn’t understand where this new power, this anointed power was coming from but I enjoyed it. It made me feel like a new man, a man with a sense of purpose. A new light was guiding me and that light called me to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I accepted my calling to preach the gospel at Southwestern Missionary Baptist Church and proclaimed to the world God’s call on my life.
To ease my pain of not seeing my son, God sent a message through a storm that came into my apartment through a window. Out of all the things that the storm could have blowed from its foundation it only knocked down two things. A large picture hanging on the wall of a bridge over water and my son’s picture was on top of it. I was going to pick it up but I heard a voice say no. It remained there for three days and then at 3:02am a little slot machine I had to entertain my son started ringing. Once I stop it, God revealed his answer to me that “I am your bridge over troubled waters. I will bring your son back to you. Within that year he was living with me and my current wife.
My current wife Brenda is my covenant partner for life. We met when she was sixteen (It’s a long but wonderful story that I can share with those seeking me as their pastor). Around ten years later, I saw her again at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago. My best friend Reverend Wendell McCaster brought me to Salem and that is where I met the joy of my life. I also discovered a man of God that reached a part of my soul and spirit that I never knew existed. The first time I heard Pastor Meeks preach, I knew I had to be under his anointing. Pastor Meeks demonstrated a spiritual perspective that greatly touched my life.
Lastly, I am also a published author and I am working on publishing several other books. I have attended Moody Bible & Chicago Baptist Institute and I am still working toward completing my theological degree.
My personal testimony is simple. I'm called to be nothing less than a slave of God and to preach, teach and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am driven to follow God's word and proclaim the good news to mankind. I was called to the ministry over 20 years ago, not knowing anything about leading God's people. However I had put on the full armor of God that I may be able to stand.
I will share more once God has made the decision that we should meet to discuss His plans to build His kingdom ministry between us. I await your notification that you seek to meet and move forward within His plans.
